AdminHistory | Vinod Chauhan came to Britain in 1978 and married here, but after a breakdown in his marriage, he was refused permanent residence. In 1981 a deportation order was served on him, and his appeal in April 1983 was dismissed. A campaign of support by local people was begun, backed by the local member of Parliament, Robert Sheldon. Vinod Chauhan was deported in April 1984.
