AdminHistoryVinod Chauhan came to Britain in 1978 and married here, but after a breakdown in his marriage, he was refused permanent residence. In 1981 a deportation order was served on him, and his appeal in April 1983 was dismissed. A campaign of support by local people was begun, backed by the local member of Parliament, Robert Sheldon. Vinod Chauhan was deported in April 1984. The collection also includes background papers to the anti deportation campaign in Tameside.
