DescriptionTranscript copy of diary kept by 2nd Lieutenant H.T. Ringham 16th Battalion The Manchester Regiment while a Prisoner of War (PoW) at Karlsruhe camp. 2nd Lt. Ringham was captured by the Germans on 2nd May 1918 at the Ypres-Comines Canal and was mistakenly listed as having being killed on 28 April 1918 in the history of the 16th Battalion. Ringham originally served in the 10th Platoon, 'C' Company, 18th Battalion, the Manchester Regiment as a Lance Corporal, service number 10446, and is listed as such in the 'City Battalions Book of Honour. He is also listed in the same volume amongst those who volunteered for service from S. & J. Watts & Co. of Manchester.
