AdminHistory | William Edward Ogden M.C. served with the 18th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment from October 1916-1918 having first enlisted in the 3/28th Battalion London Regiment (Artists' Rifles) in May 1915 and then been commissioned into the 5th Battalion, the Manchester Regiment in December 1915. Ogden was awarded the Military Cross for his role in leading his platoon during the opening attack of the Third Battle of Ypres on 31 July 1917. He was later wounded in action near Maricourt and evacuated to England in March 1918. |
