Description | Captain Norman Sedwick Ince M.C. joined the 19th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant on 16 October 1914. Promoted Lieutenant on 4 July 1915 and Captain on 26 February 1917. He was gazetted for the Military Cross on 1 January 1918 "For distinguished service in the field." Captain Ince joined the 17th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment following the disbanding of the 19th Battalion in February 1918. He was wounded and invalided home after taking part in the defence of Manchester Hill (St. Quentin) in March 1918. He relinquished his commission, retaining the rank of Captain on 29 October 1919. The author is the son of Captain Ince. |
