Writer has been worried that both his mother and sister Edna were unwell and needed a holiday. The remittance they received recently from the Army Paymaster, in relation to Cpl. Willmott's back pay of £20, has been a great help. The writer notes that it will be difficult financially for his mother when he leaves for the Army. He tells Cpl. Willmott that he was at the 'Empire' last night with Jessie and Bertha and he writes that he has told Mrs Kane about her husband's address. 'Willie Moran' and 'Arthur Perry' have been home recently and the writer also tells Cpl. Willmott about a present he received from his workmates. Writes that Cpl. Willmott should not worry that the family won't be able to continue sending parcels nor should he worry that they "...are getting down.." Writes about a six-a-side football competion being held. Writer is soory to leave his job as he liked it and was getting on well at it. Jokes about going on holiday to Munster in Westphalia (location of Prisoner of War camp in which Cpl. Willmott is being held) Tells Cpl. Willmott that he is now five foot nine inches and weighs eight stone and seven pounds. Sends regards from the rest of the family. |
