The plan has two titles and as such describes itself as "A Plan of Ashton-under-Lyne belonging to the Right Honourable Mary Countess of Stamford Survey'd and Plan'd by T. Tinker 1765" and as "A Plan of the Right Honourable the Lord Grey's Estates in Littlemoss in the parish of Ashton in the county of Lancaster and in Droylsden in the parish of Manchester the gift of Mr Tho. Walton". Described as ERSCA 15 in Mike Nevell "Tameside 1700-1930" p146.

AccessConditionsThe original survey is extremely large and requires conservation and is therefore not available for public use. Surrogate copies are avaailable. Photographs of the map have been taken and printed out on large sheets, and are available for reference in the searchroom - they are kept in the early maps cabinet in the searchroom (please ask a member of staff for assistance). A CD containing digital photographs of the survey in sections can also be produced in place of the original map. Please ask a member of staff for access to the CD. Digital copying of the CD is currently not allowed.
