AdminHistoryHyde Civic Society was formed in 1969 to raise the awareness of the public and officials in issues affecting Hyde. The Society was dissolved in 1982 due to lack of public interest, and was recreated as the Hyde Society which was active in many campaigns including the closure of Aspland House and the planting of the Big Tree Memorial for those killed in the Falklands and Northern Ireland. The Hyde Society finally wound up in 1991, again due to lack of public interest.
