AdminHistory | Hugh and William Kershaw began to occupy Doctor's Mill in Mossley in around 1843 for woollen manufacturing. They remained there until 1873 when they built Springbank Mill in Micklehurst. The firm of Hugh Kershaw and Sons became a limited company by 1924 and specialised in the manufacture of roller cloth at Springbank Mill until wollen manufacture ceased there about the time of the Second World War. All the mill buildings were demolished in the early 1980s. |
