AdminHistoryCopperas was green sulphate of iron, used in dyeing. By 1800 a copperas works had been established in Droylsden by Mr Miller of Fairfield, and another nearby in what is now Copperas Lane by Mr Cowley. Both purchased in the 1820s by Edmund Buckley from Ardwick. Manufacturing nearly 100 tons a week by 1860, carried on by his executors by 1876.
