AdminHistoryThe property referred to in this collection is mainly Swndell's Fold in Godley; several fields close to Godley Hill and Godley Old Hall. See map (DD2/90) for details. Leased and released by the daughters and coheirs of Richard Massey to John Swindells the younger in June 1693, and then by the latter to Thomas Lees of Beight Bank in July of that year. Further parts of the estate leased and released to the Rev John Lees of North Winfield by William Swindells the younger in June 1697, and by the same to Thomas Lees in 1700. 1747 Lease and release between Joseph Lees and Thomas his son and William Warrington of Chester. 1766 Lease and release between John Bower and John Hibbert. Part owned in 1819 by Samuel Gaskell, who also owned the neighbouring farm known as Goslings.
