DescriptionSummary Tape 1 Side one: Boer War - ensuing slump. Details of Percy Sherman helping people in housing matters. Worked as a welder on cars. General strike did not last long - he was not on strike at the time. Went in for pigeon raving and won several prizes. Also did bicycle racing. During the slump, was laid off - did odd jobs for two years while unemployed. Eventually got a job as a Blacksmith. Side two: Concerts - bicycle riding - boxers he knew - hunger marches - Percy Sherman. Tape 2 Side one Pigon clubs - activities of the Bull Ring - big celebrations at the time of the Coronation father out of work during the slump - activities of Percy Sherman who was well known in the area (Birmingham) Side two People were very hostile to Lloyd George in Birmingham - had to cut speech short when he came there.
