Soldier's Book of Private James Day, No.2923 2nd Battalion, Manchester Regiment Private James Day enlisted for service seven years with the colours and five years in the reserve on 28/6/1890 aged 19 years. The book is an army edition comprising details of his service, clothing allowance, medical detaisl and so on. It is in a delicate condition; the first page is torn and damaged and the second has been torn and mended. It is leatehr bound and designed to be folded and tied with the leather ribbon. c.1890
